Encounter in Bustling Shanghai

today, while sitting at a crowd local chinese fast food chain having my dinner
i saw a very very caring mother action that prompted me to think of my own action again
i mentioned before in my blog on children beggars...
at this bustling shopping centre...this mother brought her little girl (maybe about 6 or 7 yrs old) going round the food outlet begging...as usual all pple ignored them...until
they came to this mother-daughter duo's table. The mother is about 40+ and the dau is 18 or so...this mum actually took RMB10 and passed it to the little girl and told her in a loving way not to beg...I can see from her eyes the kindness she protrays...to me...she is the most beautiful woman in the world at that moment...she is not afraid of the little girl asking for more...she is not afraid of more beggars crowding round her...i asked myself...what am i afraid of...why am i hestitating...isnt help is where and when it happens...at that instant? am i a coward?

Bilingual

most s'porean are at least bilingual due to the education system...
70% of the s'porean is chinese...hence bilingual in english and chinese languages are common.
however, there are many negative reports on the proficiency of s'porean in mastering these 2 languages well at the same time. however, i am still proud of ourselves...coz not only are we bilingual, there are a large group of us who can speak at least one dialect and understand a few others...
and there is always this debate between 'Jack of all trades n Master of none' or 'master of one'...
i must say that a lot of time it depends on situation, depends on the need and demand and usage...
i personally go for jack of all trade...especially in today society...unless u r so passion abt something n do it really well...be the best master of it...why not be a 'jack' knowing 70% of everything...

some differences to share

meaning s'porean nutonghua (meaning mandarin used by mainland chinese)
close your eyes 关眼睛 闭眼睛
hot water 烧水 热水/开水
big size 大只 大个
(refering to pple)
一粒 (refer to any item irregardless of size)
一粒 (refer to only small item like a grape)

a lot of time, it is roots down to culture...upbringing...background...
I hv one moral to telling this story...in this world...it takes a lot of understanding...paitence...communication to understand one another...not only between countries...but also between races etc...to achieve PEACE

Jiuzhaigou

Jiuzhaigou is the national park located in Sichuan province, China

I lost count of the various lakes and waterfall...it is beautiful...
but there are some imperfections...
1) the number of pple...who jostle and shove and crowd round the place w/o giving a thought to others...it is this inconsideration attitude that irkes me...
2) the hygience...while admiring the scenary along the way, there are some part where u smell some really strong 'fragrance'...which really put a flaw to the whole experience...again the cleaning level and also the attitude in usage...

will i go again? unlikely unless.....hmmm...
these are something u will not get in some other countries with as beautiful scenaries...
therefore, given a choice...there are more beautiful places to choose from
